We’re glad you asked! A great alternative to natural stone is luxury vinyl. With this material, you can get the look of natural stone such as marble, travertine or slate, but there won’t be any sticker shock.
When it comes to Amarillo flooring, you “gotta go Gowdy.” That’s because we’re the largest flooring store in the area, and our pros can walk you through anything for flooring in Amarillo.
We bet you never thought you’d never use the words “luxury” and “vinyl” in the same sentence, but it’s definitely not the same as standard vinyl. It’s also not laminate, which is how a lot of people seem to confuse it, and it’s certainly not the same vinyl that you might remember from years ago.
Luxury vinyl flooring, often called LVF, can really transform a room, and it adds style and elegance to any flooring installation. It comes in two forms: A tile, which looks like natural materials, such as stone (travertine, marble or slate), or plank, simulates wood (teak, maple, oak, walnut, and pine). It’s so realistic, sometimes even the pros have trouble telling the difference.
It’s thicker than standard vinyl and the surface layer consists of a very realistic photo-created image, combined with textures that resemble that of the real materials. On top of that is a thick clear plastic wear layer.
One of the greatest advantages of LVT is its durability. Somehow the myth started that the photographic image can be worn off over time just by walking. That is totally not true! The protective wear layer, on top of the surface layer with the image, guards against impact and wear from foot traffic, as well as scratches and stains.
It’s also 100 percent water-resistant, so it can be installed in any high-moisture room.
Ease of maintenance is another advantage. Remember that clear top wear layer over the design? That protects the floor from scratches, stains, and fading, so you can just wipe away scuff marks and spills with a damp paper towel. Luxury vinyl tile isn’t at all fazed by kids, pets and heavy foot traffic, so bring on those pull toys and running dogs!
