There are a lot of factors that go into choosing quality flooring and carpet that may not all be obvious to the laypeople among us. It is with this very problem in mind that Gowdy Flooring has decided to put together a list of questions you should ask yourself before finally deciding upon your flooring choice. It is our hope that these questions will help you narrow down your search for quality flooring and carpet. Let's have a look!
1. Is Your Flooring Meant to be Installed in a High Moisture/Humidity Area?
If you answered no to this question, it is likely that just about any quality flooring or carpet can be installed in the desired space.
However, if you answered yes to this question, you might want to consider installing a moisture resistant floor covering option. Good candidates for high moisture environments are luxury vinyl tile, concrete, porcelain or ceramic tile, or wood-plastic composite flooring.
2. Do You Have Pets, Children, or Other Factors Requiring Increased Durability?
If you don't have pets and/or children, there isn't too much to worry about. Although durability is a quality everyone is looking for in their floors, it isn't quite as major a consideration, when those factors aren't present in the home.
However, if you do have pets and/or children, you are going to want to go with one of the more durable options on the market. We would recommend quality carpeting, ceramic or porcelain flooring, laminate, or luxury vinyl tile. All of these options are known to be more durable in the face of pets and children.
3. Are You Looking to Install Your Flooring Yourself?
DIY installation is an attractive prospect, because it is often quite costly to have your quality carpet or flooring installed by professionals. However, not all flooring options are realistically self-installed, due to specific requirements surrounding equipment and knowledge. Some are even downright dangerous to install as a DIY project.
IF you are looking to install your flooring yourself, you will almost certainly want to go with the more DIY friendly options of luxury vinyl tile or laminate flooring. Both styles of flooring are very DIY friendly, and most of the mistakes that are possible when installing these floors as a DIY project, aren't too expensive or dangerous.
Clearly, there is a lot more to choosing a quality carpet or flooring option than these three simple questions, but it is our hope that by answering these questions first, you can more accurately narrow your search for quality flooring and carpet for your home.
