Fun Fact: Amarillo is the Spanish word for “yellow”, and that is why the city is known as “The Yellow Rose of Texas.”
At Gowdy Flooring, we have pretty strong ties to Amarillo. Our flooring store has been located in the Texas Panhandle for over 20 years, so if the residents of Amarillo are in the market for flooring, wouldn’t it be fun to create a show stopping and sunny design to symbolize your City’s history?
The idea is to coordinate, not match exactly. The idea isn’t so much as “what color goes with the floors” as “what will enhance it?” So even if the floor itself isn’t some shade of yellow, you can always use it somewhere else in the room to enhance it.
Here are a few things you can do:
●We know tile can be expensive, so we always tell our customers that they can use a less expensive one on the larger square footage areas with a few highly designed ones as accent pieces. These days, tile comes in so many colors and patterns that you can easily find something in gold, mustard, amber, or some other yellow hue.
Better yet, let your creative juices flow, Amarillo, and create your own unique style of flooring.
If that’s still too much color for you, you can always use a yellow grout.
●One of the great things about hardwood flooring is that it has gorgeous undertones, and yellow is definitely one of them, that can be coordinated with other furnishings and accessories to create an installation that pops.
●With carpet, if you don’t want the entire floor to be yellow, here’s a hint: Maybe think of another color, such as blue, and use gold on walls or accessories.
Even a bouquet of marigolds or sunflowers would do the trick!
●With luxury vinyl, you can either get it cut in tile-sized pieces (Luxury Vinyl Tile, or LVT), or in planks for a wood-look (Luxury Vinyl Plank, or LVP) Either way, you’ll find your colors or undertones.
●Natural Stone. Here, you’d probably use that as flooring, so find a complementary color for accessorizing.
