For those of our flooring customers who have specific questions about our flooring products at Gowdy Flooring, we have some FAQs that we hope will help. For all other questions, or to see our extensive flooring selection, visit our showroom in Amarillo, TX.
How long does it take to install carpet flooring?
Several things affect how long it takes to install carpet including the size of the room or project, how much carpet is needed per room, removal of old flooring, and furniture moving. To find out exactly how long your project will take, check with one of our flooring associates after choosing the carpet you’re going to purchase for your home.
What should my hardwood flooring’s humidity level be?
Humidity should stay between 35 and 55 percent. Depending on wet or dry seasons, you might need to use humidifiers, dehumidifiers, or air conditioners to maintain a proper level. Make sure to guard against spills and use floor mats, area rugs, or runners during all inclement weather.
What’s the difference between glazed and unglazed tile?
Glazed tiles are coated with a non-porous glass coating, but unglazed tiles have no coating at all. Glazed tile is more water-resistance and more design capability, while unglazed tile looks natural and has lots of uses.
Why is natural stone a good flooring choice?
Natural stone is extremely durable and offers a lifespan when properly maintained and cared for and it rivals anything on the market. They also have unique markings that create a truly personalized design in any room.
Will my pet’s nails destroy my luxury vinyl flooring?
Luxury vinyl flooring offers protection against much of the everyday wear your floors might encounter, including pet nails. Thanks to the wear layer, you see fewer scratches than you might expect. However, if you have an extra-large dog that has tons of energy and enjoys tearing through your home, you’ll want to consider the thickest possible wear layer available.
